Loved it!

I had high hopes for a cake that I ordered for my mom’s birthday. The cake looked stunning as expected but what I did not expect and also wasn’t informed about was that it had been frozen, to stop it from melting in the way home. When we were cutting the cake it was completely falling apart which made it hard to cut. The icing was very hard and it was separating from the cake as if they were different layers. This made the icing taste very buttery and it was a thick texture and tasted bad. When I reached out and asked if it was normal, I was told that it had been frozen so it wouldn’t melt on the way home and that “usually her customers leave it out for 20-30 mins before eating”. I was not told that information, but regardless the cake had been sitting in the car for 1.5 hours in my way home in 30 degree weather. So the cake should have melted a bit and gone back to regular texture, which didn’t happen. Most of the cake had to be thrown out as it did not taste good due to the icing being frozen. Communication from the baker’s office end was horrible. I drove 3 hours due to bad traffic to get this cake and it was 110% not worth it.
